Privacy Policy

We are committed to offering you a service that respects your privacy. A foundational belief of our business is that your data belongs to you, and that it is unethical for companies to buy and sell data without the express knowledge and consent of the human being who that data relates to. Wherever possible, we avoid collecting any data that is not critical for us to provide you with our service.

If you have any questions about any of our terms, please pop us an email and we’ll try to help: hello@lettuce.money

If you choose to use our service, then you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy, as well as all of the other terms described in our Terms of Service. The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms of Service.

We don’t collect unnecessary personal information.

We’ve explicitly designed Lettuce so that it does not collect any personally identifiable information beyond what is required for us to offer the service to you. We respect your privacy, and we know it's essential to hard-code that respect into a product like Lettuce. In order to provide our service, we’ll need to store and process data about accounts that you link to the app and other data that you enter. We do need a working email address for you, but we encourage you to use the Apple "hide my email" feature, or set up a masked email address so that this piece of information cannot be tied back to you personally. We will not store or process information about your name or national identity number. We store and process all the data that you input into our app securely, and we collect only what is necessary to offer you the service.

This data will never be sold to a third party and will only ever be shared with people who are directly involved in offering you the service (direct employees and contractors). We promise that we will do everything in our power to keep that data secure.

Non-identifiable information.

We also collect non-identifiable, aggregated information that helps us to understand our users better, such as which city they are from and what model of device they have. We have configured our analytics tools in such a way that it is impossible for anyone who works for our company to tie any such demographic information to any specific user data.

We do log anonymous usage statistics.

Your data is stored and processed in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Frankfurt and Canada.

The people who process your data work in the United Kingdom, Canada and the Republic of South Africa.

Third party services

The app does rely on third party services that may collect information used to identify you. Here are links to the privacy policies of those third party service providers:

You are responsible for the security of your phone.

It’s your responsibility to keep your phone and access to the app secure. We therefore recommend that you do not jailbreak or root your phone, which is the process of removing software restrictions and limitations imposed by the official operating system of your device. It could make your phone vulnerable to malware/viruses/malicious programs, compromise your phone’s security features and it could mean that the Lettuce app won’t work properly or at all.

This app needs an internet connection to work, and you are responsible for those costs. You should be aware that there are certain things that will not take responsibility for. Certain functions of the app will require the app to have an active internet connection. The connection can be Wi-Fi, or provided by your mobile network provider, but we cannot take responsibility for the app not working at full functionality if you have any data troubles (for instance, if you run out of data).

If you’re using the app outside of an area with Wi-Fi, you should remember that your terms of the agreement with your mobile network provider will still apply. As a result, you may be charged by your mobile provider for the cost of data for the duration of the connection while accessing the app, or other third party charges. In using the app, you’re accepting responsibility for any such charges, including roaming data charges if you use the app outside of your home territory (i.e. region or country) without turning off data roaming. If you are not the bill payer for the device on which you’re using the app, please be aware that we assume that you have received permission from the bill payer for using the app.

We own the intellectual property that makes up this app.

By downloading the app, you’re not taking ownership of any of the intellectual property rights related to it - those still belong to us.

You’re not allowed to copy or modify the app, any part of the app, or our logos in any way. You’re not allowed to attempt to extract the source code of the app, try to reverse-engineer any of the software comprising the service, and you also must not try to translate the app into other languages, or make derivative versions.

We welcome users to contribute ideas and suggestions for improving our service. Although we will be grateful for your help, you will not be compensated or credited if we choose to implement any of these suggestions.

Children can only use this app with consent.

If you are defined as a legal minor in your country, you may only use the app with the consent and involvement of a parent or other legally competent person. We reserve the right to ask you for such information as is necessary to prove that you are 18 years or older, or that you are using the app with the consent and involvement of a parent or legally competent person.

U.K. law applies to these terms.

These terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom without giving effect to any principles of conflict of law. You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom over any dispute about the service or these terms.

We will let you know if the terms change.

We can also choose to change the terms at any time, but we promise that we will alert you if we do, over email, at least 15 days before the new terms become effective.
