Meet the team: Sam Beckbessinger (chief product officer)
We're doing little interviews with the members of our team. This week it's... erm... me! Yes, I interviewed myself. It was weird.
What's your job at Lettuce? Chief Product Officer (or CPO for short). That means that I am responsible for setting the direction of our product and making sure that we build the features that are the most valuable to our users. The thing I think about the most is our backlog. I also look after our marketing, run our retros, respond to customer queries, interrogate our product analytics and design new screens (in a pinch).
What did you do before joining Lettuce? I started my career in marketing (sorry), then worked with Kenny at 22seven, then started a consulting business with Simon that was called Phantom Design.
What would constitute a perfect day for you? Ticking a lot of things off a to-do list, cooking a huge meal for my friends, then curling up in the sunshine with my cat (Sir Digby Chicken Caesar) and a book.
Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? My notebooks.
What are some special skills you have?
- Excel / Google Sheets / general data wrangling (I mean, not Kenny level, but better than most)
- I know a lot about historical linguistics and 16th-17th century English literature #nerdalert
- I can quote pretty much every line of dialogue from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
What's your beverage of choice? Box-wine. I'm not kidding.
What's one really cool thing you've done (please brag shamelessly)? I once high-fived Barack Obama.
What excites you about working at Lettuce? I want to help more people to start investing, because it's so easy. I also just really like making things with other people.
