Meet the team: Roslyn Lavery (head of strategic projects)

We're doing little interviews with the members of our team. This week it's Ros, our dancing-obsessed strategic powerhouse.

What's your job at Lettuce? Head of Strategic Projects. Currently this involves our funding campaign with Crowdcube, setting up tools and ways of working, connecting to industry networks, building partnerships and creating a Lettuce community. I think most about how we work together as a team, what we are focused on and how we can best achieve our most important goals.

What did you do before joining Lettuce? I have held a number of different roles but the consistent theme has been payments and FinTech. I studied software dev and finance and still remain passionate about both those things and particularly how they work together. My two previous companies were Yoco and PayFast.

What would constitute a perfect day for you? A day that has variation, new ideas, completed tasks that are connected to a bigger goal. Interspersed with some good electronic music, a few bagpipe tunes (true story), some dancing, stretching, meeting a new person or chatting to an old friend.

Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? My kilts (and yes I have multiple).

What are some special skills you have?

  • Project management and information organising
  • Networking
  • I know a fair amount about personal growth, productivity, personal finance and tax
  • For something really random, I can touch my toe to my head, bending backwards

What's your beverage of choice? Hmmm must I choose only one... honestly the most consistent one in my life is probably water, ideally from a fresh mountain underground stream.

What's one really cool thing you've done (please brag shamelessly)? Performed at the Basel Tattoo (not the ink type) in Switzerland (you may notice there is a bit of a theme here)

What excites you about working at Lettuce? That we can be ourselves and that we are figuring it out as we go.
